Since my last article, we haven’t seen very much sunshine despite the time of year. Despite this we did manage to see a lovely day of sunshine for our annual Family Fun day. Well done to everyone involved but in particular the hard work of Cheryl, from the events team, who organised the day. What a great job you did Cheryl. If you too would like to help organise events like this one or maybe you just have an idea that think might work, please contact me at The Centre.
The Fun day raised a fantastic £1,300 for the Mawsley Village Fund. The Centre of course was at the forefront of the Fun Day, making the perfect venue for the event, Isn’t it great to finally have a venue to hold such events. With the Bar in full throttle for most of the day, we also managed to raise sum funds for The Centre.
Just Last week we saw the Kasbah return for it’s second time, again a successful event. Despite the lack of Caribbean at the Caribbean BBQ, and the complete downpour in the afternoon!
Again we saw the turn out of the Farmers Market, on the 1st Sat of the month, This event, getting more and more popular, we will see an increase in stalls for the September event and then again in the months following provided we have the continued support.
Looking forward we have the summer sizzle planned for the end of the month. In October dare I say it; we will see Half term, during which we hope to run a kids club at the Centre. We will also see a Halloween Party for the children and then the Firework Show on 3rd November.
Of course with the Start of term in September the Regular user groups will return running through the autumn term, (check individual user groups for time tables).
Finally, you will notice in this edition of the newsletter our Centre questionnaire. Our aim is to listen to all the views of the village, those that love those that hate and those that have never visited the Centre, we want to know why? What do you want from your community centre, How can we improve the facilities. Now obviously some of these ideas will cost money and will not be feasible immediately, however if we know what the villagers want we can start to think about the changes we can make.
I have to say it amazes me how many people from the village, are still yet to visit the Centre. The Centre has a lovely bar area which serves every evening from 6pm and also from 12noon at the weekends. Families are welcome and we now have a lovely playroom for the Children (thanks to Wimpy), We have a wide range of drinks available at the Bar and a fantastic coffee machine, This is a great place to meet with friends, bring family or even just come on your own as there is always someone new to meet.
I will finish with the anticipation of reading all those completed questionnaires (click here to download a printable survery, or click here to complete the survey online), happy scribing!
